- Why is solar charging not free?
- Because every kilowatt hour you charge could have been exported. The honest cost of solar charging is the feed-in revenue you give up.
- How much of my charging can be solar?
- For a car that is at home during the day, half or more is realistic. For a commuter car that charges at night, expect much less without a battery.
- Do I need a wallbox at all?
- For regular charging, yes. A wallbox is faster and safer than a household socket, and it can prioritise solar surplus.
