    We derive the share of your production that you use yourself from the ratio of annual production to annual consumption: the larger the system compared with your demand, the smaller the share. A battery raises it, in proportion to how much of a day of consumption it can store. A higher share raises the saving, because power used at home avoids the full electricity price.

Where feed-in rates are low, self-consumption carries the business case, so shifting load into the day and adding storage matters more than maximising the annual total.
Is exporting still worth it?
Yes. Even a low feed-in rate is better than curtailing production, and a larger system usually still lowers your total cost of electricity.
How can I raise self-consumption without a battery?
Run the dishwasher, washing machine, hot water and car charging during the day, and let a heat pump prefer daytime hours.
